Summer Reading 2020

Summer Reading at the Hamilton-Wenham Library

June 20 through August 8

This year we’ve moved our summer reading program online to engage all age groups in exploring ideas, books, and activities. We have created a customized Beanstack platform for the Hamilton-Wenham community—all  ages are invited! The program is free. It will have many of the same features you enjoyed with our previous paper-based summer reading program. As you log minutes, read books, and engage in activities, you will be eligible to win badges and prizes.

Beginning June 20, 2020, you can start recording your reading time and participate in activities, located exclusively in Beanstack.

How do I start?

  • Create your Beanstack account here.

  • Sign up individually or keep track of all family members’ reading progress and rewards with the same account.
  • Log your reading minutes, books, and activities from home or on the go. Beanstack is browser-based, but has a mobile friendly app. The Beanstack app is available for iOS and Android.

In Beanstack, you can view the available activities, enter the books you have read, find our dragon mascot, write book reviews and more. Each badge you earn counts as one entry each into our weekly prize drawings for local gift certificates, and into the grand prize drawing for a GoPro Hero 8 at the end of the program on August 8. (We are giving away 3 GoPros.) The more badges you earn the more entries you will have in the drawings.

There are separate challenges and prize drawings for children, teens, and adults. Beanstack will automatically direct you to the appropriate challenge activities based on your age group. We will contact you if you win a prize.

We hope you will join us this summer as we go on a journey filled with fun activities and reading challenges. We’ve set a 500,000 minutes community reading challenge goal.

News Flash: We’ll let you know at the end of summer which school logged the most minutes read. The Library will award a Champion Summer Readers trophy to the local public school with the most reading minutes logged.
